Last week the older classrooms started the “Keeping Kids Safe” curriculum. This is a great way for your kiddos to learn about personal safety and what to do during an emergency.
On Monday we had a special visit from the police department. Our friends were able to learn more about what a police officer might do on a daily basis. They were able to explore around and inside a police car. Some friends even got to sit in the backseat! (Don’t worry parents, they were not in trouble.)
We will be having a visit from the fire department at the beginning of next week. Your kiddos will get to learn more about fire safety and even get to take a look inside the fire truck! How neat is that?
On the 23rd, we will be learning about bus safety. We will get to see our own AoHC bus. We will be learning about seat belts, emergency exits, and safe behavior for riding on a school bus.
Aside from learning about community helpers, we are also learning about our health. This week some of our friends had their hearing tested by Hear Franklin. You should have received the results from testing from your child’s teacher.
As the cooler weather has come upon us, it is time to really crack down on washing those hands! Do you know how many times a day your kiddos wash their hands at school? We wash hands when: entering a classroom, before meal times, after potty or diaper changes, anytime that we come in contact with blood or a bodily fluid, any time we come inside from outside, any time sensory play is involved, and so many more times. Can your child tell you when they wash their hands at school?
