Science is FUN!

Who doesn't love a science show?!  Our Preschool and PreK students enjoyed a Mr. Bond the Science Guy show on Tuesday morning.  They learned all about gases and had a bunch of super fun science experiments!  Science is a great subject for young children to learn about for many reasons.  First, science involves a lot of communication with other people and it develops patience and perseverance in kids.  It can also help kids form a healthy dose of skepticism!  Science teaches kids about the world around them and can spark in kids' minds that they, too, can help solve the world's big problems.

#ToddSquad

Early on, babies respond to things that look or feel funny — a silly face, raspberries on the belly. But in the toddler years, kids understand more language and also have a good grasp on how the world is supposed to work — the right way to wear a pair of pants, for instance.  Our Toddlers are rocking it!  They are very involved in their free art, gross motor play and sensory play at this age.  We are so proud of our Toddlers and our AWESOME Toddler Teachers!

Future Olympians!

Check out our new PreK 3 students! We held our very own Olympics, including, the "high jump" and "feather blowing" races!  In all of our races, we had boys vs girls!  The students really enjoyed the little competition they had going with their friends!  We think this really pushed and drives the children to do their best!

What has been your favorite Olympic sport this year?

PreK Wee Chef Pizza Party!

Wee Chef week is in full swing here at AOHC!  The PreK students made English Muffin Pizzas on Tuesday and had their creations for lunch! It was a real treat for the kids and it taught them independence and how to make choices.  We offered sauce, cheese and pepperoni as toppings and the students were allowed to pick and choose which they would like on their personal pizza!

Cooking can help young kids learn and practice some basic math concepts and build language skills. And the experience of creating meals with you can help build their self-confidence and lay the foundation for healthy eating habits.
It may take a little flexibility and some simple prep work, but with the right expectations, your time in the kitchen with your preschooler can be a culinary adventure you'll both enjoy.

Everything's Magic!

Abracadabra!
One of the greatest magic shows stopped by AOHC on Tuesday!  We saw everything from card tricks to a rabbit being pulled out of a hat!  The children absolutely loved it and with all of the not so great entertainment around us these days, this was the perfect show!

We love to give our students a little break from their classrooms at least once a month.  This is important for the attention span as well as a break for their little brains!
