Saint Jude's Trike-A-Thon

Here at The Academy Of Heritage Commons we are learning to Ride while learning to Give. Our kids had so much fun participating in our annual St. Jude's Trike-A-Thon all while raising money for a good cause.
The children learned about making sure we always wear a helmet every time we are on a bike.

The kids learned to always watch where they are going.
We taught the children to always be careful near driveways. Here at The Academy of Heritage Commons we blocked off our driveway so all of the children were safe during the Trike-A-Thon. Teacher Appreciation!!!

We are kicking off our Teacher Appreciation with breakfast for Champions. Every Tuesday the teachers will get a sweet surprise to let them know how much we appreciate them. They are the wheels that keep us in motion. They not only make an impact in our lives but also your children.
 Look at these ALL STARS!!!!
Breakfast is the most important fuel of the day!
Everybody has their favorites so we had all of our teachers fill out an All-star favorite list. This gives parents an opportunity to show LOVE to their favorite teachers.

Moving Forward

Ms. Christine has been a welcome presence in our center for over 3 years. She started as a teacher and quickly moved up as our Assistant Director. She is always the first to greet our families with a smile in the morning or wish them a good evening at the end of the day. Now, she is continuing her growth with us and opening a new center in Murfreesboro as the Director. The staff and families here at AOHC will miss her terribly, but her influence here will live on.
Christine was always fun at parties!

All of our families and staff members are writing their well wishes for Ms. Christine to take with her.

Good Luck, Ms. Christine and thank you for being YOU!!!

The Life of a Ladybug

I never thought I would get attached to a bunch of bugs!!! We have had a ladybug farm here at AOHC for the last few weeks and they have gained quite a popular following. They started out as tiny pupa that looked nothing like a ladybug. We came in one day and they weren't moving at all! Come to find out, they were in their "shells" going through metamorphosis to become ladybugs. Most of the adults I spoke to about them had no idea they went through this process. It was quite a learning experience not only for our students but for our parents and teachers too!
Here are the remaining "shells" of the pupa.
They really like to climb on the paper like a maze.

Here they are all grown up!

We will all miss them but know they are in store for some great adventures!!

Easter Egg Hunt

This morning we had a blast hunting for eggs at AoHC. A BIG thank you to all of our families who donated eggs and candy!! With the rain coming in we were worried about hunting outside, but we managed to get all of our classrooms hunting before the raindrops began.
Look at my eggs!

Say cheese!
Brothers showing eggs through the fence.

Showing off their loot.

Lining up for a class photo

Look what I found!

Keeping our smiles bright!

We want to thank Farrow Dentistry for coming in and talking to us about our teeth and how to keep them clean and healthy. They did such a great presentation that really got the kids involved and they loved it!
All the kids paid such close attention.

Our volunteers were dressed up like dirty teeth and we were shown how to brush the germs away.

Once we brushed, we learned how to floss in between our teeth.

Everyone gave the presentation a thumbs up!
It was great to learn about keeping our teeth and gums clean in such a fun way. The best part was, we all got to take home a new toothbrush, toothpaste and floss!
