Animal Planet!

Hi everyone! This week was Animal Planet Week! Since there are so many animals to talk about, we themed it with a fun story called, "There's An Alligator Under My Bed" by Mercer Mayer. It's such a fun story about a boy who finds an alligator in his room and has to figure out how to get it out of there. Monday, classes got to read the story and talk about their favorite part. Tuesday they talked about an Alligators diet. They then talked about the differences from the story to real life. Another thing that happened on Tuesday was our baby chicks we've been incubating have finally hatched! We have been SO excited for this day and it finally came! A total of seven chicks hatched. We have a few more to go and we cannot wait! Wednesday classes made some "alligator bait". In the story, the little boy went into his kitchen to see what kind of food he could get to lure the alligator out from under his bed. There were sandwiches, pizza, and even spaghetti was made for this activity. One class actually had pictures of all kinds of food for their traps. What a fun week this is turning out to be!

Ooey Gooey Week

Hey everyone! What an Ooey Gooey week! There were lots of experiments that went on and our friends had so much fun with it. Monday, classrooms built a volcano! Not only did they build one, but they also made it erupt by using vinegar and baking soda. Nothing like helping the kids learn about chemical reactions by doing something fun! Tuesday was the Rainbow Experiment! Where classes had colored water and paper towels so they can see how colors can change into something new if they work together! Wednesday classes read a story by Mercer Mayer called, "A Trip to the Science Museum" and came up with their own experiment to do with the class. Some did more rainbow experiments, others made slime, a class even made a glove expand using baking soda and vinegar. Lastly, I think the highlight of our week was having Mr. Bond the science guy come to visit and teach our friends about the weather and what causes weather to happen. What a fun week!

Barn Yard Bash and First Day of Water Day!

Hey everyone! What a week this has been! To start off the summer, our theme for this week was Barnyard Bash and we had some fun activities in store.

For circle time in class on Monday, they talked about farmers and their jobs. They also learned that there are different kinds of farmers that have their important part to keep all of us going. Did you know that there are mainly seven kinds of farmers/farms? Our older friends were so intrigued.

Tuesday our younger and older classes talked about a life cycle of a chicken. Not only that, but the older classes had special visitors come to school. Farmer Kate came by with her chicks and ducklings and taught them a few things about the different species and what makes them different. They had a wonderful time! Wednesday was being creative and making cows out of shapes.

Now Thursday was our highlight for this week because we had our first water day! *yay!*. All of our friends had so much fun sliding down the waterslides and playing in our pig bathing station. We cannot wait for the water days to come! Have a great weekend!
