This week at AoHC we put our investigating skills to good use! Each classroom had the chance to learn more about pumpkins through pumpkin investigation. This is a great way for kiddos to incorporate the use of their 5 senses. It is also a great way to develop new vocabulary and language skills. Ask open ended questions!
1. Can you hear the pumpkin? Does it make a sound as it grows? Does the pumpkin talk?
2. Can you see the pumpkin? What color is the pumpkin? Can you describe the shape that you see?
3. Can you touch the pumpkin? How does the pumpkin feel when you touch it? What does the inside of the pumpkin feel like?
4. Can you smell the pumpkin? Can you describe the smell?
5. Can we eat pumpkins? What does a pumpkin taste like?
By asking open ended questions, it allows children to use more vocabulary than the simple yes or no answer.
