We Love our Teachers!

At The Academy of Heritage Commons we pride ourselves in our teachers. Without our teachers we wouldn't be able to provide the quality of care that we do. Ms. Samantha is a very special toddler teacher that has been with us for quite some time now. She is a certified school teacher but has found a passion for working with our one year old friends! She is always going above and beyond in her position here at The Academy.

Last week she took it upon herself to make one little girl in her class feel very special. We have a little friend who is in the process of learning sign language as her main form of communication. Ms. Samantha had two shirts made for this sweet little girl. One shirt had the signs that spell LOVE (perfect for Valentine's Day) and the other signed her name. What a sweet way to connect with a child and her family. We asked Ms. Samantha what made her decide to do this, and she simply said "because I love her." She makes a point to make a connection with all of her families and that shows through these small acts of kindness we see consistently from Ms. Samantha.

Meet Our New Assistant Director, Ms. Ambrosha

We would like to introduce Ms. Ambrosha Miller to our AoHC family. As Ms. Christine grows with our company and becomes a Director, Ms. Ambrosha will be here to fill the Assistant Director position. She is very excited about getting to know our families and we are happy to have her! Below you can learn more about Ambrosha, her family and her childcare experience.

My name is Ambrosha Miller and I am going to be the new Assistant Director at AOHC. I live in Columbia with my husband and our two boys, River(7) and Phoenix (8 weeks). I am originally from Tucson, AZ and moved to TN in 2004.
I started college as a Chemistry major, but quickly switched to Education. As soon as I made this switch I landed a position as a teacher's assistant at a Montessori Preschool. I continued at the Montessori Preschool as a lead teacher for 4 years. During this time, I fell in love with the kids and decided to work on my degree in Early Childhood Education.
In my years in TN I have held a few positions in the classroom, mostly Pre-K. I took a break to work for an internet start up company and held numerous management positions as the company grew. While I had a very successful career I missed the fun I had with the kids. So when the company was bought out, it was a perfect opportunity to apply for another teaching position at a local preschool.
I was so excited when I found the open position for Assistant Director here at AOHC. I knew it would be the perfect blend of my Early Childhood and management experience. From the moment I stepped inside the school I knew I had to work for this company! You can imagine how ecstatic I was when I was offered the position.
My son, Phoenix is 8 weeks old and is in our Infant 1 class and my son River catches a ride on our bus and loves the TASK class! The care that is given to my children and every other child in our care lets me know I am in the right place and look forward to growing in my new home!

Happy New Year!

At AoHC we wanted to celebrate the end of 2015 with our school friends. On New Year's Eve we had a big party for all of our kiddos out in the enrichment room. The party was complete with party hats, bazookas, and decorations. We even had TWO surprise balloon drops! We actually made our own balloon drops. Click here to learn how to make your own at home!

Our TASK friends were kind enough to help us clean up after our little friends went back to class. It is so nice to have some school aged helpers in the building when you need them!

Our New Year party was so much fun and will now become a tradition! Happy 2016!!
