October Has Finally Come!

Hi everyone! I hope you all are having a wonderful week! Let's catch up! Last week we had classes make their own autumn tree. Some classes glued their leaves, some made their leaves with their handprints, and some used dot dot markers to make their creation. Tuesday was Ms. Amanda's (director) 10 year anniversary at the Academy. We wanted to give her some extra love and had a little table set out for her with some goodies from all of our teachers. We hope she felt the love and appreciation for all she has done for us! Wednesday we read a book called, "Troll" since we're slowly trying to get into the Halloween spirit! Thursday, infant teachers taught our little friends about the color yellow. Lastly, Friday was National Cinnamon Bun Day, so on the way out, families were able to grab some cinnamon rolls we made as a special treat.

This week so far, we made a little pumpkin patch for our friends to explore and pick out their favorite one for them to paint later on, we then made some spooky slime in our classrooms It's great to have children experience feeling different textures. Today classrooms were able to paint the pumpkins that they picked out earlier in the week. We love watching our friends get creative. We can't wait for the activities to come!

Senses and Book Fair Week!

Hi everyone! I hope you all have had a wonderful week! Now, let's catch up on what's been going on these weeks past. Scholastic had come by and dropped off their displays for our book fair! Book fair is always so much fun and can bring anyone back to the good ol' days of childhood. It was such a busy week as well! We hope our friends enjoy their new books. Along with the book fair, we had our Open House on Monday! We had train rides and a bounce house! Our friends were so excited. Tuesday the toddler pod had their Frogstreet activity. They practiced their fine motor skills and ripped some paper! It's so funny how easily our little friends will tear paper from books but when it's an activity they have a hard time figuring things out. With some help from the teachers they quickly got the hang of it. Wednesday we had a smell station at the front desk, where we put some mystery things to sniff in a few test tubes and had parents/kids guess what was inside. Some loved the smells while some, not so much. To finish out one of the past weeks we had a fun Apple tasting activity at the front desk as well! Families REALLY liked this activity. They got to taste five different kinds of apples to decide which was their favorite and put it on our graph. Like a little science experiment! Surprisingly, our little one's favorite by quite a lot was the Granny Smith Apple. Looks like kids like tart fruits.

Now just last week, we played with some playdoh for National Playdoh day, classes had their fall sensory bins to explore in, of course PJ day is a must, who doesn't love a PJ day! We made letters using shapes and lastly, Independence High School had their Homecoming parade and our friends had so much fun looking at all the floats! Fall is FINALLY here! We just hope this weather will start acting like it soon! Have a great rest of your week!
