Superhero Week!

Hi everyone! I hope you all are having a great week so far! Let's catch up with what's been going on! Last week was Superhero Week at school and it was filled with fun, creativity, and some great reminders about what it really means to be a hero.

On Monday, each class worked together to build the tallest Batman building they could. The kids loved the challenge and it was amazing to see how high they could build when they put their minds together.

Tuesday was all about designing our own superhero masks. Everyone had so much fun decorating and creating their own look. A lot of our friends were so proud of their masks, they didn’t want to take them off—even for nap time!

On Wednesday, we read Pete the Cat: Super Pete. It’s such a fun story and Pete is always a favorite here at school. The kids loved his superhero adventure and the story sparked great conversations about being brave and helping others.

Thursday brought the energy with a superhero dance party right in the classroom. We played music, moved our bodies, and celebrated being the amazing little heroes we are.

And on Friday, we finished the week by dressing up as our favorite superheroes. It was so special to see each child show off who inspires them. Some were classic heroes and others made up their own. No matter the costume, each one reminded us of something important.

Being a hero isn’t about flying or having super strength. It’s about being kind, helping a friend, and doing the right thing even when it’s hard. That’s what makes someone a true superhero, and we saw a lot of that in our classrooms.

Disney Week

Hi everyone!

I hope you’ve all had an amazing few weeks! Let’s catch up on all the fun we’ve been having because things got magical around here.

Disney took over our school in the best way, and we kicked things off with a fun “Mirror, Mirror on the Wall” activity. The kids brought crayon to paper and turned their scribbles into some seriously creative self-portraits. Our older friends really took their time, studying their reflections and doing their best to capture themselves on the page. It was adorable and impressive!

On Tuesday, the school transformed into a mini Magic Kingdom as students and teachers dressed up as their favorite Disney characters. Let’s just say we had lots of princesses twirling through the halls!

Wednesday was all about royal fashion. The kids decorated their very own crowns and officially became princes and princesses of our kingdom. They were so proud to wear them for the rest of the day. You could feel the excitement in the air!

Thursday brought a “Finding Nemo” twist. Each classroom picked a different activity inspired by the movie. Some played matching games with the characters while others got hands-on by hiding Nemo in sensory bins and letting the kids dive in to find him. Both ideas were a huge hit!

And Friday was the cherry on top. Cinderella came to visit! The kids lit up when she walked in and made sure she felt all the love. They’re already asking when she’s coming back and honestly, so are we!

It truly was a week full of joy, imagination, and a little Disney magic. We’re so grateful to share these moments with your amazing kids!

Let's Build Week!

This week at AOHC, our theme was “Let’s Build!”  and build we did! From tiny towers to big ideas, our little architects were busy designing, stacking, gluing, and imagining all week long!!

On Monday - we built a giant cardboard fort together in the yard! The children worked side-by-side to design the structure and create their own imaginative hideaway. It quickly turned into a favorite hangout spot, and our friends had a ton of fun crawling through tunnels, peeking out of windows, and pretending it was everything from a castle to a clubhouse.

On Tuesday- We turned tools into paintbrushes! The children used toy hammers, screwdrivers, and wrenches to stamp and swirl paint onto paper. It was a fun, messy, and creative way to explore textures and colors.

On Wednesday- Our second to last water day of the year! Splash time! We had a blast running through sprinklers, playing with water toys, and even building little water ramps with blocks and tubes. Perfect way to cool off and stay active!

On Thursday- Hard hats on! Our preschoolers searched for hidden letters around a pretend construction site using toy tools. Toddlers joined in with a shape and color hunt! The toddlers also got to use expo markers to find the letters hidden on the laminated sheets! It was a great mix of learning and play!

On Friday- We ended the week with a fun story time featuring Pete the Cat and his big construction project. After the book, the children shared their favorite parts of the story. So much imagination!
