Mother Goose- Special Guest

This week we had Mother Goose come out to visited AoHC! All the students ages 2 and up loved seeing her puppet friends and listening to her stories. We had each classroom separate to their own viewing carpet to make sure we maintained distance between each classroom. Storytelling is the oldest form of teaching. Here a few benefits when telling a story to children:

  • Inspires purposeful talking, and not just about the story — there are many games you can play.
  • Raises the enthusiasm for reading texts to find stories, reread them, etc.
  • Initiates writing because children will quickly want to write stories and tell them.
  • Enhances the community in the room.
  • Improves listening skills.

Sensory play

Did you know that sensory play has several benefits to children? These benefits include: strengthening fine motor skills, building strong connections to the brain, fostering language development, and it can initiate scientific thinking and problem solving.

Here are some links to articles with ideas to integrate sensory play into daily routine:

Fall is Here!!

Tuesday was the first day of Fall!! Here at AoHC, Fall is for Family! We are so excited that the weather is now going to be cooler and that we are going to be able to spend more time outside learning about nature. Yesterday many of our friends went on a nature walk to collect items to use today to make fall wreaths. Be on the lookout for the wreaths at pickup!
