Mixing Fun

Do you know how to make the color GREEN? Our friends here at AoHC learned all about it last Friday. We made fun and simple sensory bags that allowed the children to explore mixing colors. They saw that it only takes a little bit of yellow and a little bit of blue to make green!

It's my turn now!

So fun!
Our friends loved exploring the color green with this fun project! They asked to do it again, so we took the project a step further and mixed red and yellow to make orange! If you want to do this activity at home click here for the instructions.

Celebrating National Children's Dental Health Month

Yesterday Farrow Pediatric Dentistry came to visit us and talk to our kids. They showed a video about keeping our teeth strong and clean. They also had fun interactive games for the kids to play. At the end, each child got their own new toothbrush and bag to bring home!

Listening to the puppet's story.

Deciding which food are healthy and not so healthy. She talked
about the sugar bugs sticking to their teeth and how you
can get it off. Brush and Floss!!

A BIG thank you to Farrow Pediatric Dentistry for coming to teach us about dental health this month!

Our PreK classrooms had fun making teeth and coloring them with dry erase marker to represent the "sugar." They then took a toothbrush and scrubbed off the plaque and sugar. This was a great example to show kids how important it to brush their teeth!
Scrub those teeth!

Get that plaque off!

Hi friends!

It is so important to keep your teeth healthy and clean and we loved teaching the kids how to do that! Click here for some fun resources to use to teach your kids about dental health.

Let's Discover RED

Our friends loved digging in the RED Valentine buckets that we made on Tuesday. Part of our curriculum focus this week is the color red, so right before Valentines day, a sensory bucket filled with fun heart shaped red items was perfect! It was almost like a treasure hunt for the kiddos to look through the sensory buckets and see what they could find.
Red, red and more red!

"I found a sparkly heart!"

"They match!"

Making messes and creating childhood!

Look what I found!

"Cheese!"

Sensory buckets are so much fun for the kids to explore and they can be created in so many different ways. Click here to visit a website that has many different sensory bucket ideas  you can try at home!

Snow Day!

Last week the weather man was calling for snow, but it never came. We decided that we would make our own at AoHC. The recipe was fun and simple. The kids loved mixing the snow together. The reaction that takes place when you mix the ingredients together even makes the "snow" feel cool to the touch.

So much fun in PreSchool Two

Wow!

How does yellow taste?

This week we were all about the color yellow at The Academy of Heritage Commons. On Wednesday we even got to experiment with lemons. The kids had a blast tasting, squeezing and painting with lemons. The faces they made were priceless. Even after several of them made funny faces they continued to taste them.
So sour!

I don't know about this...

If you try it I will too!

Let's paint with lemons!

Eating the lemon like an orange.

Yum!!!

Painting with yellow!
We had so much fun exploring the color yellow this week. This was only one of the many "yellow" activities we did this week. We can't wait to explore the other colors the rest of this month!
