Phases Of The Moon

On Tuesday we had a fun "Phases of the Moon" snack. Our classes each took Oreo cookies, separated the sides and scraped the icing out of the middle to make the different phases of the moon. Our teachers labeled each phase and explained to the kiddos what each phase means.

So much fun and yummy too!!

Making Moon Sand

Our High Reach Learning theme this week was "To The Moon and Back" so we made moon sand on Wednesday! The kids loved mixing it up and getting their hands all dirty! It started out very messy but once the ingredients were mixed together it was had a very light almost play-dough feel to it. What fun!

Paper Airplane Races

Today we had our paper airplane races at AoHC as a part of our "Flying" theme this week! We began by letting each friend fly their plane solo. Next we all stood in a line and flew all our planes together. We noticed that the more we angled our planes towards to ceiling the farther they flew! What fun!!
Taking turns!

Go Aubrey!

Waiting patiently...

Great take off Ava!

1...2...3 go!!!

So proud of their planes!

St. Patrick's Day Fun

Today we had so much mischief around AoHC! We had a sneaky leprechaun leaping all over our school turning things GREEN.
Help us find him!

He turned our milk for snack and lunch GREEN.
He turned our juice and pudding GREEN!

He even left little GREEN footprints all over our counters!!
The kids loved all the mischief that the leprechaun created. A couple classes even went on a leprechaun hunt!

Recycled Skyscrapers

Last Friday all our classes built skyscrapers from recycled materials. We are really focusing on "Green Our Scene" this March and April. We want to teach our kids to leave less of a "footprint" and to teaching them habits that will help preserve our Earth for future generations.

Pre K 3-So proud of their creation!

Another awesome creation in PreK 3!

It is so important to start teaching our kids the importance of preserving the Earth now instead of later. Check out this great website for preschool recycled craft ideas to do at home with your kiddos!

Up, Up and Away

Yesterday our PK2 class let a balloon go outside. They talked about what they thought would happen to the balloon and made a prediction chart. Will it pop in the sky or will someone find their balloon far, far away? Just in case someone finds it they wrote their names on it. They were so excited to launch their balloon!!
Heading outside to let their balloon go!

Making their predictions.

Can you still see their big red balloon!
This was a unique way for Ms. Kristy and Mrs. Renee to incorporate out "From the Ground Up" theme this week! We love teaching our Academy kids!!

Let's Plant A Flower!

This week we have been talking about things that go from the ground up. Rocket ships fly from the ground to outer space. Hot air balloons float from the ground to the sky. Flowers grow up from the dirt all thanks to a little water and sunshine. Our kiddos had a blast planting seed in their cup and now over the next several weeks we will watch them grow. They will learn to take care for them by watering them and making sure they get lots of sunshine!
Checking Out The Seeds!

Ms. Renee passing off the seeds to Hayden.

Matthew & JP planting their seeds.

Cam loved planting his seeds!

Its so much fun to do hands on activities with our kids! They love getting down and dirty and this time it was actually in the dirt!! Speaking of hands on activities...Home Depot has a free kids workshop the first Saturday of each month. They have all kinds of fun activities for you to do with your child, plus its all free!
