Soak Up Some Sun!

Hi Everyone! Last week at AOHC, we swapped ABCs for “Yeehaws,” and embraced our inner cowboys and cowgirls for a rootin’-tootin’ good time. That’s right—it was Wild, Wild West Week, and things got a little wild in the cutest way possible.

On Monday, we kicked things off with a sharp activity—cactus crafts! The kids did an amazing job creating their own spiky masterpieces. There were pipe cleaners, foam pieces, construction paper and enough glue to mildly panic the supply closet.

On Tuesday, our little cowpokes brought their creativity to the bandana. There were patterns, rainbows, and some accidental self painting situations (washable marker, we promise). Our friends were so happy to take these bandanas home.

Wednesday was our big Western Wear Day, and let us tell you—our preschoolers and teachers understood the assignment. We saw everything from cowboy boots, hats, spurs, and vests. It was great to see them dressed up!

Thursday, the kids cooled off with some water play. There was puddle jumping, splashing on the water tables, and to top things off some line dancing to give it that Western twist.

To wrap up the week, we sent home a little “chicken feed”—don’t worry, it was really Chex Mix (no actual chicken feed was used in the making of this snack 😋). Hopefully it kept the hangries at bay for the ride home!

Let The Summer Fun Begin!

Hi everyone! I hope you all are enjoying the summer sun, although we could definitely do without the extreme heat! Let’s catch up on what’s been going on around the center this past week.

We started the week with Car Art, and it was such a hit! Instead of traditional paint brushes, the children used toy cars, wheels, and other fun tools to create their masterpieces. It was a great way to encourage out-of-the-box thinking and show that art isn’t limited to crayons and paper. Giving children the freedom to explore creativity in new ways helps build confidence, imagination, and problem-solving skills, all while having a lot of fun!

Tuesday was Silly Sock Day, and it brought so many smiles. Everyone showed up in their brightest and most colorful socks. From animals to characters to crazy patterns, the kids had a blast showing off their sock style to their classmates.

On Wednesday, we got a little messy with Dirt Search Day. The children loved digging around and discovering little treasures in the dirt. Our toddlers were especially adorable—some dove right in, while others weren’t too sure about the mud. It was a great sensory experience and a whole lot of fun.

Thursday was our first water day of the summer, and it was a hit! The weather was perfect for splashing around, and the children had so much fun cooling off. We also added a little learning to the mix with sink-or-float experiments, which kept the kids engaged and curious as they played.

We wrapped up the week on a high note with a visit from The Science Guys. Their silly, interactive science show had everyone laughing and learning. It was such a fun way to end a week full of excitement and exploration.
